On February 9, 2017 Aperam announced a share buyback program of up to one hundred (100) million USD and a maximum of two (2) million shares under the authorization given by the annual general meeting of shareholders held on May 5, 2015. "We are a leading global stainless and specialty steel producer based on our annual production capacity of 2.5 million tonnes in 2017. We are the largest stainless and specialty steel producer in South America and we are the second largest producer in Europe. We are also a leading producer of high value added specialty products, including grain oriented (“GO”) and non-grain oriented (“NGO”) electrical steels and nickel alloys. Our production capacity is concentrated in six production facilities located in Brazil, Belgium and France, and we have approximately 9,600 employees. Our distribution network is comprised of 14 Steel Service Centers (“SSCs”), 6 transformation facilities and 16 sales offices. We sell our products to customers on three continents in over 40 countries, including customers in the aerospace, automotive, catering, construction, household appliances and electrical engineering, industrial processes, medical, and oil & gas industries.
